GOLDEN NECTAR is a popular yellow dessert plum. It has large, oblong fruit with waxy, thin, amber skin. Its amber flesh is firm, sweet & flavorful. It has a very small pit. The fruit is at its best when soft ripe. It provides several layers of flavor, with melon and honey predominating, along with other subtle, more delicate flavors. The plums have a distinctive aroma that some people perceive as gardenias, while others compare it to rose petals and honey. This plum has an unsurpassed quality for dessert. The chilling requirement is about 500 hours. Trees are self-fruitful. The fruit is freestone, excellent dried, and keeps well fresh.  Hardy in Zones 5-9.
